
Yearbook Creative Track
This track is designed for those staffs that desire a publication more focused on school
expectations. An emphasis will be placed on planning, design and production aspects of
the publication rather than intense journalism.
Yearbook Fast Track
This track is for those staffs that desire a strong journalistic publication. An emphasis will
be placed upon intensive reporting, writing, and design as required by scholastic journalism
associations. Staffs from the school must have a solid understanding of theme
concept, design and writing.
Beginning Advisers
Everything you want to know about yearbooks is taught in this four-day crash course. Learn how
to use supplies, handle deadlines, budgets and marketing strategies. Instruction will
include how to design your yearbook and the steps for putting it together. The class will
combine lecture with question and answer sessions as well as hands-on activities.
Experienced Advisers
Advisers with at least one year or more of yearbook experience will join this group
of seasoned professionals for a one hour session and will be instructed on their role with their
staffs during the seminar.
Photography
A hands-on class for students who wish to learn basic camera techniques including photo taking
and composition. Students will have yearbook-related photo assignments evaluated by the
seminar instructor. Students need to bring their own digital cameras.
InDesign Track
Designed for students who need to learn InDesign or become more proficient on the program adapting the BalfourTools in your publication. Participants must bring their own computers with Adobe InDesign and Balfour tools pre-installed. Students will leave with a basic understanding of the program and also pick up some excellent Photoshop tips and tricks.
StudioWorks Sessions
StudioWorks sessions will be available during breakout sessions. Limit 2 students
per school please. Computer class registration will be at main registration
at the seminar.
